Trick out to lake fork with Mr. P

Wow, we had a blast out at Lake Fork. It was a great time and we caught a few keepers. We had the best luck using the Booyah double bladed white spinner bait. My favorite is the one below with the double willow blades. By far the best one I have used.

Just checking in...

SOOO...Starting a new job and working weekends has taken away my time to fish as much as I want. The greatest part is I still get my Bassin Magazine and Bass Masters Magazine. It is killer living by the lake everyday and watching everyone else fish. But hey, with the country in turmoil, I am just happy to have a job! Can I get an AMEM!!

I promise to be back with great updates soon. Just hang with me for a bit, I promise it will be worth the wait!

Going to Join the Local Bass Club...

So, Mr. P is a member of the Lake Ray Hubbard Bass Club, and I think I will be joining them in January. Right now the club only has 91 active members and from what I can tell on their site they are wanting to keep it a small club with no more than 100 members. They host all kinds of tournaments on Lake Ray Hubbard, with one going on every month, as well as other great bass lakes like Lake Fork, lake Lewisville, Ceder Creek Lake, and lots more. They have a low membership cost and it appears they are trying to keep it fun and friendly. I am looking forward to joining these guys and maybe getting taught a thing or two.

Since I do not have a boat currently I will be going out with Mr. P on his boat. He currently has a Nitro 898 with a optimax 200HP Mercury on it. That boat will scoot across the water with no problems at all! His boat is easily able to fish 3-men and is just down right awesome when it's just 2. I am thankful he has his boat!

I am looking forward to this coming fishing season! Going to lots of good fish to be had on Lake Ray Hubbard. I am really happy they keep stocking it up with the large mouth. The fishing will only be getting better!!

Doing some catching up!

Mr. P is my father-law and one hell of a fisherman, 11 years running now and he will out fish me 7 out of 8 times. Here is a picture of Mr. P bringing in a decent 2 1/2 - 3 pound large mouth bass.

 He was fishing the banks using one of his favorite soft lures a Zoom Bates 6" Watermelon Red Lizard . It was a perfect day too! Fishing out at Lake Bob Sandlin, he was slaying'em all day and ended with a total of 21 beauties. Doing a mix of trolling the banks and dropping the power poll in some honey holes really paid off!

Well, as all fishing stories go, we only have one picture to show for that day. When the fishing is good for some reason one of the last things of our mind is grabbing a camera to pose for a picture. Granted, we are both devilishly hansom men and photogenic to boot, however picture taking has not been on the top of our list of things to do

Fishing at Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall Texas was the start of my little hobby. I grew up on the lake and at a very young age started off with digging up my own worms and hook and bobbing my way in to this great sport. Lake Ray Hubbard is a great lake in my own opinion. Lake Ray Hubbard has finally gotten the upkeep that it needs to be a competitive Bass lake. For the last 3 years Lake Ray Hubbard has been stocked with over 600,000 fingerlings a year, the largest majority being the Florida Large Mouth bass. This next fishing season should prove to be a great one. lake Ray Hubbard has not seen the type of upkeep it has needed in a long time and for the first part of this century it was rough to catch anything here. I am looking forward to a great upcoming year.

So if you pull in one of these pretty fish, then you know your catching some of the young stock!



Now they just need to double the fingerling count and do it for the next 10 years, we should be good then!

I am excited to start this new blog. My goal is to start sharing the great experiences with anyone who cares to read them. I enjoy fishing, it is one of those things that when you get hooked, you get hooked. I have tried putting that into words to my wife, just how much I enjoy it. For some odd reason she just has not been able to understand it yet. I have played golf for a while, but that requires way to much walking!! Plus, what kinda pictures can I take?! I am serious here. If I hit a hole in one, do I just walk up and take a picture of a ball in the hole? So, I guess that truly, one things that I LOVE about fishing is the bragging rights. Who caught the biggest fist. Once you get your first hole in one like I did (so what, yes it was only a 140 yard par 3) you can only brag about it so much. Pictures of a nice fish? Now that is something you can hang on the wall! Not only that you can actually get your name in the record books too! All you have to do is go to the Texas Parks and Wild Life site and fill out the forms and wallah, your go down in history! You would want to go to the one for Lake Ray Hubbard Records or, where ever you got the fish at. There is a place that has each lakes record and how to submit the information if you got a bigger one!

 Any ways, it is just something that I truly enjoy. I live in Rowlett Texas and typically fish the Ray Hubbard or Lake Lewisville area. I am also going to be joining the Lake Ray Hubbard Bass Fishing Club in January. Stay posted for some great information!
